John van Noort
After his undergraduate studies on Molecular Science in Wageningen (NL), John van Nooort obtained his PhD Applied Physics in 1999 on Atomic Force Spectroscopy of Protein DNA interactions in the group of Prof. Jan Greve at Twente University (NL). In his postdoc he introduced Magnetic Tweezers at TU Delft (NL) to study several processes involving DNA repair. In 2004 he started his own group at Leiden University (NL), focussing on the dynamics of chromatin and developing several single-molecule techniques and statistical physics methods. Since 2014 he holds a visiting professorship at the School of Biological Sciences of NTU in Singapore.
